Sol Kadi : A Goan Special !

For Garnishing


Preparation :

  1. Wash kokum well in water and place in a plate.
  2. Boil one cup of water and add kokum in it. Boil for about 10-12 minutes , the kokum start leaving its color to pink. Do not boil more as it may turn to bitter. Let the kokum water cools completely.
  3. In a blender put grated coconut, garlic and green chillies and add a cup of water. Grind well and collect the coconut juice in a bowl using a strainer. Repeat this procedure another time.
  4. Add this coconut milk to the cooled kokum water. Adjust the coconut milk to the desired thickness of kadi.
  5. Add salt and asafoetida and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve after lunch/dinner.
  6. You can remove kokum pieces after a while.
Note:
Do not add coconut milk to hot kokum water as it may get split.
