Jackfruit Dry Chakko Recipe

Grated Coconut

Dry Red Chillies

Mustard seeds

Urad Daal
उड़द दाल
1 T spoon
Coriander Seeds
धनिया के बीज
1 T Spoon
Jaggery
गुड
1 T Spoon
Tamarind
इमली
Half a size of small lemon
Curry leaves
करी पत्ते
2 leaflets
Oil
तेल
4 T Spoon
Salt
नमक
To Taste


Preparation :



  1. Chop off the outer skin of raw jackfruit until you get a smooth surface and the thorny outer skin of all jackfruit is gone.
  2. Then chop off the raw jackfruit into cubes and wash well.
  3. Using cooker cook them taking 2 whistles. We do not want soft and well cooked Jackfruit.
  4. Once cooked drain the water and smash them to get small pieces.

Preparing the Masala :
  1. Heat the small pan, add few drops of oil and fry Urad daal, Coriander seeds and chillies until you get aroma of these three.
  2. cool them and grind along with grated coconut, tamarind, jaggery and little salt.
  3. Prepare a dry masala using very little water.


Preparing Chakko :
  1. In a deep bottomed pan add mustard seeds, once they start popping add curry leaves and 1 dry red chilli.
  2. Add the ground dry masala, Jaggery and 2 t Spoon of water and cook them in a low flame until it get very dry.
  3. Add pieces of cooked jackfruit and mix well. In a low flame cook closed until they combine well.
