Godu Povu/ Sihi Avalakki Recipe

Ingredients :

Paper Thin Beaten Rice
 पोहा
3 Cups
Jaggery
 गुड
1 Cup or as per taste
Ghee
 घी
3-4 T spoon
Cardamom Powder
 इलायची पाउडर
1/2 T Spoon
Grated Coconut
 किसा हुआ नारियल
1/2 Cup
Water
 पानी
Not more than 1/4 cup

Preparation :
  1. Heat kadai and add water. Once it start boiling add jaggery.
  2. Keep stirring until it dissolve fully and start forming sticky solution.
  3. Add grated coconut and saute for few minutes.
  4. Next will be cardamom powder and ghee, there it goes in to the kadai.
  5. Mix well and turn off the flame.
  6. Let it cool for 20 minutes. Add Beaten rice and mix well.
  7. This sweet is prepared usually on festivals to offer god for "Naivedyam".
  8. One of the common sweet dish of Udupi and South Canara.

Note:
  1. While stirring the jaggery mixture be careful regarding the flame. Keep it low.
  2. When you add beaten rice before cooling, it will become very hard to eat instead of soft.
