Preparation :
  1. Soak toor daal in a bowl of water for atleast half an hour.
  2. In a pressure cooker pour a glass of water add toor daal and salt. Take four whistles and cook.
  3. Once all the steam goes out from the cooker transfer the boiled daal to a vessel.
  4. There should not be any remaining of daal particle. If it is not smashed fully then you can grind it using mashers.
  5. Put water depending on the consistency you like to get.
  6. Add chopped tomato, green chilli, ginger pieces and coriander leaves.
  7. Let the daal boil for 4-5 minutes. Simultaneously prepare the tadka by heating oil in a small pan.
  8. Add mustard seeds, once it crackle add curry leaves, turmeric power and small pieces of dry red chillies.
  9. Now you are giving the final touch by adding  asafoetida and the tadka.
  10. Boil for few seconds and turn of the flame.
  11. Serve this along with rice with the topping of little ghee.
